Mel Gibson’s arresting officer sues his police department

The LA cop who arrested Mel Gibson in 2006 following his drink driving and anti-Semitic rant is suing his employers, saying he has been discriminated against because he is Jewish. Deputy James Mee says he was unjustly denied a promotion after the arrest, because of “religious discrimination and retaliation for plaintiff’s religion and his report of anti-Semitic remarks by Gibson”. After Mee, who is Jewish, arrested the Hollywood star, Gibson told him, “F*****g Jews, the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” Mee now claims Mel was a close friend of Sheriff Lee Baca at the time of the arrest. He says Mel’s ties to the department included carrying out a public service announcement for the sheriff. He was also a spokesman of the LA County Sheriff’s Star Program, an initiative to help young people stay away from crime. Mee also claims a colleague, Sgt Tracy Palmer, erased a videotape showing Mel’s arrest. It is alleged the video shows Mel screaming and pacing around his jail cell. Mee also says he documented Mel’s anti-Semitic tirade after the July 28, 2006, arrest but was ordered by his superiors to rewrite the report, taking out the offending remarks. He also says he was targeted as the source of leaking the report to the media at the time, despite other deputies having access to the information. The Sheriff’s Department has denied acting on ethnicity or gender and that it has a duty to investigate who leaked the report, as it is a crime.

‘I was assaulted’: Jersey Shore cast, crew hit with lawsuit

The entire cast of Jersey Shore has reportedly been hit with a lawsuit amid one woman’s claims she was assaulted security guards. Snooki, The Situation, JWOWW and the rest of the controversial reality TV clan have been named in legal documents filed in New Jersey. The alleged victim – named only as J.P. – claims four of the hit MTV show’s security guards threw her to the ground after a heated argument with Snooki (real name Nicole Polizzi). According to Radaronline.com, J.P.’s lawyer Eugene Lavernge says her chin was cut in the scuffle and she now has a scar. The alleged assault happened last September, the same night muscle-bound Ronnie Magro knocked a man unconscious. This alleged victim, Stephen Ortiz, is reportedly suing MTV and the show’s producers. This new lawsuit names the cast, their bosses at 495 Productions, MTV and its parent company, Viacom as defendants.

Leonardo Di Caprio ’slasher’ to stand trial

A Canadian woman accused of slashing Leonardo DiCaprio with a broken wine glass must stand trial, a judge has ruled. Aretha Wilson, 40, allegedly lunged at the Inception star outside a party in Hollywood in June 2005. She is said to have cut his neck and ear – causing the actor to need 18 stitches. “There was an extreme amount of blood,” DiCaprio’s producer pal Eustace Hicks testified. But Freddy Sayegh, a lawyer for Wilson, insisted that DiCaprio menaced Wilson – who faces one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Wilson, who was extradited after five years on the run, faces seven years if convicted. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Edmund Willcox Clarke, who saw photographs of the star’s injuries that have not been made public, said he did not consider them “trivial or moderate”. Wilson allegedly sneaked into a party hosted by Paris Hilton’s former boyfriend, Rick Salomon. According to police, she thought DiCaprio was a former boyfriend and attacked him with a bottle. Wilson has remained in jail since pleading not guilty to the charge earlier this month after failing to secure bail of $150,000 USD. She is due in court again on September 9.

Tiger Woods speaks of ’sadness’ at divorce

Shamed golfer Tiger Woods has expressed his “sadness” over the breakdown of his marriage” but refused to say whether he still loves his ex-wife Elin. The 34-year-old sports star confessed that their divorce was a result of his “errors” and said he was going to have to live with those mistakes. “It’s a sad time in our lives,” he told reporters during a press conference at the Barclays golf tournament in Paramus, New Jersey. “We’re looking forward to how we can help our kids the best way we possibly can. And that’s the most important thing.” But when a journalist asked Woods whether he still loved 30-year-old Elin, he ignored the question and simply repeated his previous statement: “That’s the most important thing.” Woods’ comments came on the same day that a US tabloid magazine printed an interview with Elin, who told how she had been on an “emotional roller coaster” since news of her husband’s affairs began to break. “I have been through the stages of disbelief, shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children,” she told People magazine. The interview was printed just two days after Woods and Elin finalised the details of their divorce in a Florida courtroom.

Kanye West is reportedly putting the finishing touches on his new album. In addition to the new CD, sources are suggesting that the rapper is also working on a movie companion to be released with his new music. An insider with knowledge of what Kanye’s working on cites the rapper’s Twitter posts where he talked about and posted pictures of what looked like him between takes of filming. At one point, Kanye tweeted “Just wrapped for the day. Been shooting 16 hour days. … I’m so excited. … It’s like a child’s delusions become reality!” While this is all just speculation for now, it’s pretty strong speculation.

According to the British press, Mel B and hubby Stephen Belafonte’s marriage is on the rocks and that they are well on their way to a divorce. A friend of the former Spice Girls singer said “They’ve not been happy for a long time and there’s been rowing. Mel’s been talking about getting out. They’re still talking to see if things can be worked out. But she’s making plans to come back to the UK on a more permanent basis. Stephen hasn’t been mentioned as joining her and has been consulting lawyers. Part of the problem is jealousy. They are both livid when the other one gets attention for another person. They constantly want to know where the other one is… it’s been an ongoing problem right from the start.”

Mika recently had an interview with Italian magazine Sorrisi where the singer talked about meeting the Queen of Pop and how big of a fool he made himself look by not speaking. Mika said “I’m not a socialite. My private life belongs to me only. Add to that the fact that I’m really shy. During an Oscar after-party, I made a poor figure with Madonna. I was sitting at the same table with her and Christian Louboutin, but I was too shy to say even one word. I wonder what she might have thought about me.” I think it’s better to just shut up instead of divulge every little thing about yourself when meeting others.

Mos Def Lawsuit

Mos Def has been accused of recently bailing out on a gig 24 hours before it was set to go off and causing the promoter to take a $57,500 loss. According to a new lawsuit filed in LA County Superior Court, the rapper was paid a $12,500 deposit to do a show at the Kool Haus in Toronto back on February 25. In the documents, the promoters, REMG Entertainment, claim that Mos suddenly backed out of the concert on February 24 and failed to pay back the deposit that was made. REMG claims it’s another $45,000 in the hole for “lost customers, sales and goodwill”.
