Friends of Tipper and Al Gore have expressed their surprise at news of the couple’s separation announced on Tuesday.

“They were always such a loving and supportive couple and are incredibly close, especially for a couple in politics,” a friend of the family commented to People.

“They were always affectionate and loving and a tight family unit. I am shocked.”

A spokeswoman for the former vice-president and his wife did not provide any further details, but another friend believes no third party was involved.

“I believe completely this is not one of those [cheating] situations in any remote way,” the friend said.

“[Just last month] he was his usual self – polite, friendly, engaged. There was not even a trace of anything being wrong. I can’t tell you how shocking the news is.”

Tiger Woods’ marriage scandal is affecting his performance on the golf course, his former coach has claimed.

Hank Haney, who resigned as Woods’ swing coach last week, said revelations about the golfer’s affairs had damaged his preparation for the game.

He confessed he would probably still be coaching the shamed star if the scandal had not erupted.

Asked how much Woods’ off-course struggles were distracting him and stopping him playing good golf, Haney said: “I believe 100 per cent.

“Last year, Tiger played 19 tournaments. He had 17 top 10 finishes and seven victories.

“This year, he’s only played in three tournaments. He was off for five months.

“But I don’t think there’s any doubt it’s affecting him. How could it not? He’s a human being and he’s got a lot to deal with on his plate right now. A lot more than people know about.

“It’s hurt his preparation. It has to have affected him.”

Asked whether he thought he would still be coaching Woods if the marriage scandal hadn’t occurred, he said: “Yeah, there’s probably a good chance that I would be.”

Tiger Woods has revealed his frustration after dropping out of The Players Championship with an “annoying” neck injury.

“For me not to play all 18 holes [at TPC], that was as angry and as frustrated as I’ve been in a long time,” Woods revealed at a press conference.

“[The injury] actually was getting worse and now I’m at a point where I just can’t go anymore.”

The golfer, who has recently returned to the game after last year’s sex scandal, also opened up about the mental challenges he faces to return to his peak.

“[My game is] certainly not where I would like to have it, there’s no doubt,” People magazine reports Woods as saying.

“There’s a lot of things going on in my life, period, right now. [I'm] just trying to get everything in a harmonious spot, and that’s not easy to do.”

Hills star Brody Jenner showed off a cute companion on TV – a French bulldog called Bentley.

The 26-year-old TV star has revealed how he bought the pup for an ex-girlfriend – but took him back when she failed to look after the dog properly.

Jenner, who has previously dated Lauren Conrad, Nicole Richie and Kristin Cavallari, was careful not to name the ex in question.

“He was a gift to one of my ex-girlfriends. I had to take full custody because she wasn’t taking care of him the best,” he told US chatshow host Bonnie Hunt.

“It was a gift to her, but I couldn’t have a dog at the time so I gave it to my mother.

“My mother’s absolutely in love with this dog and it’s good because I get to see him.”

Tiger Woods has hit the fairways with pal and basketball great Michael Jordan.

The friends were seen on the greens of a course close to Woods’ Isleworth home on Tuesday and Wednesday, RadarOnline has exclusively reported.

Speculation has mounted in recent days that Woods and wife Elin Nordegren are set to divorce, after the former model returned to Stockholm to spend time with family.

Meanwhile, the golf star has stayed in the couple’s Florida home and was recently spotted backstage at a Nickleback concert.

“He’s not sitting home alone,” a source has been quoted as saying.

“He has people over all the time. He and Elin don’t even speak anymore when she’s here.”

The ex-wife of action star Steven Seagal has said she is “not surprised” by the recent sexual allegations levelled at the actor.

Actress Kelly LeBrock told TMZ.com the allegations that Seagal treated a former female employee as his own personal “sex toy” came as no big surprise to her.

LeBrock – who had three children with the action star during their marriage from 1987 to 1996 – also told TMZ: “I will refrain from saying anything specific now because of our three children.”

But then she added: “I have many shocking things to say about Mr Seagal which will be known soon when my book comes out.”

The martial arts expert is being sued by 23-year-old former model Kayden Nguyen, who says she signed up to work for him after responding to an ad on craigslist.

But she alleges he went on to treat her as “his sex toy” and expected her to live in his house in Louisiana, where he shoots his reality show Steven Seagal: Lawman in which he works with a sheriff’s department as a deputy.

Nguyen also alleges Seagal had two young Russian women as “attendants” on staff at his home “who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week”.

She is suing for sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and false representation about employment.

Larry King’s divorce from his eighth wife might be off. The talk show host and his wife Shawn Southwick King announced their split after 12 years of marriage last week.

“There’s a 50-50 chance this divorce is not happening,” King’s lawyer Dennis Wasser told People.

“His focus is on the best interest of his children. It’s not clear to me which way he’s going to turn on this issue.”

In another statement Wasser said: “It was decided that there will be no divorce proceedings for two weeks as several issues need to be discussed and resolved.”

King and his wife have two sons, and were reportedly seen together on Sunday at a baseball game, walking arm-in-arm.

The estranged wife of basketball star Shaquille O’Neal has claimed the superstar athlete tried to use their six-year-old son to deliver death threats.

Shaunie O’Neal is claiming Shaq recently ordered their son to deliver death threats to her new boyfriend.

TMZ.com has obtained documents showing Shaunie O’Neal’s lawyers fired off a letter to Shaq’s people.

The letter claims the basketball star “interrogated” the couple’s children to tell him everything they knew about her new man.

It added: “To the point that they felt intimidated and scared of him.”

Shaunie also claims Shaq told their six-year-old son to tell her boyfriend that Shaq “is going to kill him” – and that Shaq even screamed at the kid and said, “Say it now! My daddy is going to kill you!”.

Shaunie’s lawyers are demanding Shaq halt “further inappropriate discussions” with their children – which is an alleged violation of the non-disparagement provision of their divorce judgment.

Shaq’s attorneys have made no comment yet on the documents and their allegations.

Larry King ran into his soon-to-be ex-wife at his son’s baseball game – and despite their explosive divorce proceedings, shared a public hug.

The CNN presenter had filed for divorce from wife Shawn the previous day amid reported allegations he had an affair with her sister, which he denies.

Finding himself to be the story, he took the night off from his show to go watch his 11-year-old son Chance play a little league match at a field in Beverly Hills.

And it led to raised eyebrows all round when wife Shawn turned up to watch the game herself.

Instead of further animosity, the couple, who have two children together, Chance and 9-year-old Cannon, reportedly shared a “warm” three-second hug.

According to TMZ.com King even tried on a little charm, complimenting Shawn on her perfume.

“That smells good,” he said. “I know that smell.”

He then thanked Shawn for something unspecified that occurred earlier in the day, saying “I want to thank you for today … it was the best half-hour of my life.”

The two then proceeded to watch the game together, reportedly “acting nothing less than civil”.

TV mogul Donald Trump has spoken out to defend Tiger Woods and Jesse James.

While the rest of the world attacks the two celebrity love cheats, Trump appears keen to come out in support of the pair.

“Tiger’s a friend of mine. I really like him a lot,” said The Apprentice boss, bucking the trend of disowning the golfing great following his sex scandal.

Trump also makes out his buddy is not to blame for cheating – claiming the pressure of life as the world’s top golfer is responsible.

“I really think that there’s tremendous pressure you wouldn’t understand from the world of golf,” he said.

Proving that Woods is not the only celebrity cheater he backs, Trump also defends Sandra Bullock’s shamed husband Jesse James, who has been a contestant on his show Celebrity Apprentice.

“I also know Jesse James very well – he’s a tough guy and a smart guy,” Trump said.

But the mogul admitted he had a sneaking suspicion about the marriage to Bullock all along.

“I always wondered why he didn’t bring Sandra on the show. I guess now we know,” he said.

Tiger Woods’ former adviser insists the golfer’s downfall was sparked by hanging out with the wrong crowd – especially sports legend Michael Jordan.

Lawyer John Merchant also believes the golf superstar was led down the wrong path after he was fired – insisting that Woods was then surrounded by yes men.

Merchant, who worked for Woods until 1996 when the golfer was only 21, insists he was worried about the influence basketball star Jordan was having on him.

“I told him, ‘Stay away from that son of a bitch [Jordan], because he doesn’t have anything to offer to the f***ing world in which he lives except playing basketball, which he did yesterday’,” Merchant insists.

Woods appeared eager to impress Jordan, as well as fellow basketball great Charles Barkley.

“When Tiger showed up in Vegas, he was always with Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley,” according to Las Vegas columnist Norm Clarke.

Merchant complained: “Are they his black role models? You’ve got to be kidding me.”

The lawyer was obviously pained by the downfall of the bright young man whom he had advised as a rising star. “This is worse than one of Shakespeare’s tragedies,” he said.

Celebrity Apprentice star Donald Trump has said former contestant Jesse James was ‘foolish’ for allegedly cheating on wife Sandra Bullock.

James, 40, is said to have cheated on his Oscar-winning actress wife with tattoo model Michelle McGee – and Trump said he is surprised at his actions.

Trump, 60, said to Star magazine: “I’m very surprised, especially because I know Sandra and how nice she is. She’s such a great person.

“And what surprises me more is he always gave me the impression he was totally in love with her. It doesn’t change my image of him, but I thought he respected Sandra and loved her.”

James previously appeared as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice and Trump said he was a ‘very smart’ contestant but also ‘very argumentative’.

He said: “Jesse did something very foolish – obviously. I think it’s very unfortunate. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors? But I can say this – Sandra is a high-quality person and I respect her tremendously.”

Sandra Bullock discovered the scandal of her husband’s alleged affair with a tattoo model from her publicist, Hollyscoop reports.

The website claims Bullock, whom everyone is now calling Sandy, found out Jesse James was mired in scandal when she got a call from the rep saying In Touch Weekly was going to publish the story.

A source said: “In Touch magazine had called Sandra’s publicist on Monday morning to let her know the magazine was going to print an explosive cover story – saying her husband was cheating.

“At first, camp Sandra dismissed the story until they understood that the magazine had the alleged mistress, tattoo model Michelle ‘Bombshell’ McGee, on the record telling all.”

Hollyscoop claims that, by the end of the day, Bullock had moved out and cancelled her appearance at the London premiere of The Blind Side, for which she recently won an Oscar.

Some sources claim she has gone into hiding. James has issued an apology that cites embarrassing Bullock without confessing to any wrongdoing.

A friend said: “Sandra had no idea that all of this was going on. Not a clue. Now she is with family hoping for privacy. It’s bad enough for any woman to find out that her husband has been cheating on her, but to find out from your publicist and then have it on the cover of a national magazine is heartbreaking.”

Cheryl Cole has reportedly pulled out of her tell all TV interview with Jonathan Ross because there is the possibility that the Girls Aloud singer may not be getting a divorce after all. What?! Sources close to the singer say that Cheryl is torn whether or not she should get back together with football player Ashley Cole and the cheater is convinced he’ll win her back eventually. Her spokesperson is remaining pretty quiet about the whole thing, only saying “Cheryl will no longer be appearing on Jonathan Ross for interview. Former US president Bill Clinton has offered words of encouragement to Tiger Woods.

People magazine reports that it confirmed with a presidential spokesman a Golf Digest report the pair had spoken on the phone.

Just when the phone call took place is not known. “President Clinton spoke with Tiger and wished him well,” said Matt McKenna.

Also not known are details of how the phone call came about. Clinton was hit with infidelity allegations during his career and famously impeached for a dalliance with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Woods is believed to be staying at an Arizona rehab facility. He made a public apology over affairs he carried on while married to Elin Nordegren.

Ashley Cole reportedly begged estranged wife Cheryl to let him go to sex rehab to save their marriage.

The Sun newspaper, in an exclusive, reports the football star, who is accused of sex-texting at least one woman, called his pop singer wife and repeatedly begged for another chance. Cheryl confirmed last night she had separated from Ashley after spending time in Los Angeles away from him.

The Sun reports Ashley left emotional voicemails that escalated in desperation after Cheryl had texted him, saying: “Move out. It’s over.”

The newspaper claims Cheryl, 26, would not respond to Ashley’s calls but did play back his messages.

A close pal said: “Ashley was calling every 10 minutes or so and leaving messages. He was very emotional and in distress. Ashley suggested they could go for counselling and that he could try therapy. He admitted for the first time that he has a problem. Cheryl refused to answer any of the calls and they went straight to voicemail.”

The ex-boyfriend of Sarah Palin’s daughter has been ordered to pay almost $18,000 in owed child support, according to a US report.

It is claimed that a court told Levi Johnson to pay Bristol Palin $1,688.42 a month, for every month since their baby was born in December 2008.

While Bristol was in court in Alaska for the hearing, Levi was reportedly a no-show.

“Bristol is pleased with the court rulings today and looks forward to resolving the remaining issues with Levi,” Bristol’s lawyer Thomas Van Flein said.
