Levi Johnston’s decision to run for public office surprised his former fianc�© Bristol Palin.
“I never knew he had political aspirations,” the 19-year-old exclaimed after reports emerged that Johnston was planning on running for mayor of Wasilla as part of a reality television show.
“I’m glad that Levi has not given up on completing his education and is looking for steady employment,” she said.
Last month Palin and Johnston, parents to 18-month-old son Tripp, announced they had rekindled their relationship and were planning on tying the knot. Only three weeks after getting back together news broke that their engagement was off.
A representative for Johnston says that in the lead-up to Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office, the 20-year-old one-time Playgirl model will be going to college to study politics, Us magazine reports.
“He’s going to really deal with the issues,” Johnston’s campaign manager Tank Jones said.

Dennis Rodman has narrowly escaped injury after being involved in a car accident.
The former NBA star was reportedly a passenger in a green Range Rover that was travelling down the I-95 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when one of the tyres blew out and the car flipped over three times.
According to TMZ, Rodman had to be pulled from the car by passers-by.
He was also allegedly asked for autographs after the incident but politely declined.
Rodman was taken to hospital by a friend, where he was treated for head injuries.

Ricky Gervais has made an appearance as a foul-mouthed doctor on the US comedy show Louis.
In the FX channel show, Ricky played an unnamed high-school friend of the star, Louis Sezekely, also known as Louis C.K.
Louis goes to see Ricky for a health check-up – but instead he torments Louis, saying he has AIDS, women’s tits and “the worst penis I have ever seen in my life”.
Ricky tells him: “You look like diarrhoea, you look like someone poured diarrhoea into a face-shaped mould. I know what’s wrong with you. AIDS. Hahahaha!”
He asks Louis to strip to his underpants, adding: “Jesus. You don’t need a doctor, you need a time machine. Did no-one tell you tits were meant to be on women?”
Louis said: “Come on, man, this is a nightmare.”
Ricky then asked him to take a deep breath and hold it.
He then says: “So how do you feel, really? Apart from the tumour I can hear in your lungs?”
He tells Louis to “strip all the way down”.
He exclaims: “Oh God, Louis, that is really bad.
“That’s the worst penis I have ever seen in my life. That is disgusting.”

Sue and Willie Coleman, the parents of the late Gary Coleman, have spoken out about their grief in the wake of their son’s death last month.
“I hurt more and more every day … More and more,” Willie Coleman said.
The Diff’rent Strokes star had a fall at his Utah home in May and subsequently suffered a brain haemorrhage. His ex-wife Shannon Price made the decision to remove the 42-year-old from life support.
His parents have revealed they were not given the chance to farewell their son, and that Price did not call them before he passed away, according to reports.
“We’re not holding any animosity towards her because, like my wife said, she was young and inexperienced,” Willie Coleman said in an interview with HLN’s The Joy Behar Show.
Commenting on their relationship with their son, who sued them in 1993 for allegedly mismanaging his money, Willie Coleman said: “When Gary turned 18 years old, you know how you do a horse? We were put out to pasture.”
The actor’s father said his son would be remembered as “the sweet little gentle boy that we raised”, CNN reports.

Randy Kester, the late Gary Coleman’s lawyer, has claimed that the actor’s ex-wife Shannon Price was verbally abusive towards the Diff’rent Strokes star.
“Shannon would demean him and say very personal things about him in public … she would frequently call him stupid,” Kester has alleged.
He describes the former couple’s relationship as “inappropriate”.
“Shannon’s treatment of Gary was harsh and it was domineering,” Radar Online reports Kester saying. “It always bothered me.
“If Gary would respond in the wrong way, if he would disagree then there was this barrage of why he was wrong and why he shouldn’t be saying it that way … and even comments about his stature.
“They weren’t reluctant to talk loudly and harshly in public.”
Price and Coleman were divorced in 2008. Coleman passed away last month after falling in his Utah home and suffering a brain haemorrhage. Price made the decision to take the actor off life support, and she has subsequently been involved in a legal stoush over his estate.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart has revealed that she was “nervous as hell” the first time she had to kiss co-star Taylor Lautner.
“One of the most challenging scenes was probably finally kissing Jacob for the first time … when Taylor Lautner and I kissed, it felt like such a different dynamic. I was nervous as hell,” the actress told Parade magazine.
She went on to say she can empathise with her character Bella in the Twilight saga, explaining: “I’ve always said that I’m not ashamed of anything that I say because I’m always being honest, even though you can definitely make mistakes. That’s Bella in a nutshell, so I can completely relate to her.
“I feel like I’ve succeeded if I’m doing something that makes me happy and I’m not lying to anybody. That’s why I feel really good about myself right now.”
The 20-year-old also admitted that she is increasingly enjoying her glamorous red carpet duties, saying: “I’m definitely having more fun with it.”
Stewart also opened up about dealing with the pressures of fame and life, saying she has a calmer attitude towards life in the spotlight.
“I’ve definitely relaxed because I’ve like sort of just relinquished control. There’s nothing I can do, but who I am, or whatever. It used to freak me out. I still wish I could tell myself to just like calm down. But that’s it.”

Dennis Rodman owes more than $300,000 dollars in child support, according to a new report.
The former basketball star owes a whopping $305,244.67 in child support for his two children, claims his estranged wife Michelle.
She has now filed legal papers in the Orange County Superior Court in California, asking a court to force him to pay up.
Rodman was last ordered to pay his wife $50,000 a month – plus an extra $1,083 in spousal support – but Michelle claims he’s way behind on payments.
Rodman’s rep told TMZ: “He has already made several child-support payments and we intend on clearing up any discrepancy in that regard.”

Gary Coleman’s ex wife Shannon Price says she intends to scatter his ashes on train tracks because “trains were his hobby”.
Shannon, speaking to US television show Entertainment Tonight, also said: “Gary didn’t want a funeral or a viewing.
“He didn’t want people to see him that way.”
Talking about what she intends to do with his ashes, she added: “I want to spread some of them around some train tracks.
“Trains were his hobby and he loved them very much.
“I think he would appreciate I did that.”
Shannon, who was divorced from the Diff’rent Strokes actor when he died, was asked whether she possessed his will.
She said: “Yes I do. He wanted me to have everything.”
She also said: “His financial problems have always been bad.
“People were always stealing from him. No-one taught him to handle his finances. We survived.”

Gary Coleman’s widow has insisted she would kill herself before ever harming the former child star, as rumours of foul play in his death continue to swirl.
Shannon Price said reports that she pushed him at their Utah home are laughable.
And she said the pair had a “golden” relationship – despite the fact they secretly divorced in 2008. She added: “People can say whatever they want because I know the truth.
“I would never hurt my husband, ever. I would take my own life before I would ever harm him.”
She said she had asked the former child star to make her some food shortly before he fell.
She told a US TV show: “He went downstairs and I heard this big smack.
“I rushed down there and found him lying in a pool of blood.”
The estranged parents of the Diff’rent Strokes actor have claimed there may have been foul play in his death on May 28 at the age of 42.
He died after a head wound at his Utah home led to a brain haemorrhage. Police do not believe the death was suspicious.
His body was found by Price, 25, who later gave doctors permission to turn off his life-support machine. She said she made that choice after advice from medics.
She said: “The doctors advised me it was grim. He went into cardiac arrest, so they advised this was the best thing for him.”

Jack Osbourne has failed in his attempt to get a restraining order against an ex-girlfriend he claims keyed his $250,000 Aston Martin.
Osbourne alleges former flame Niki Cloyd, 24, caused $10,000 worth of damage to his home and Aston Martin after flying into a violent rage.
The 24-year-old reality TV star – son of rocker Ozzy Osbourne – asked a judge for a restraining order to stop Ms Cloyd doing any further damage to him, his home or his family’s homes.
“She committed several acts of vandalism to my property including over $10,000 worth of damage to my vehicle,” Osbourne states in the papers.
He goes on to state: “Ms. Cloyd went through my telephone text messages, my private computer files, and flew into a rage, destroying property in my home.”
“Ms. Cloyd is apparently in a state of unpredictable rage, and I fear that she intends to do further harm to me or my property.”
The judge, however, denied the request and told the star not to let her into his home again.
In a handwritten note, the judge wrote: “You are in the wrong court. Insufficient for a TRO [Temporary Restraining Order].
“Proceed this case with police or sue in civil court for damages to your property and car.”
The judge adds at the bottom: “Don’t allow her in your home.”

James Cameron has revealed that BP “graciously” turned down his offer to help with the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
“Over the last few weeks I’ve watched, as we all have, with growing horror and heartache, watching what’s happening in the Gulf and thinking those morons don’t know what they’re doing,” Cameron said appearing at a technology conference. He did not specifically say to whom he was referring with the “those morons” comment, Reuters reports.
The Oscar-winning director is considered an expert filming under the sea, and his work has made extensive use of robot submarines.
Only yesterday it was announced that Cameron had met with the Environmental Protection Agency to “brainstorm” ideas for ways of plugging the oil leak.

Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman died today (Friday) after his wife made the agonizing decision to switch off his life support machine. He was 42.
The diminutive actor had been rushed to hospital in Provo, Utah, on Wednesday after suffering what his family called "a serious medical problem" following a fall at home.
He later fell into a coma and his wife Shannon Price had to make the heart-breaking decision to pull him off life support. Coleman died at 12.05pm at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
"Family members and close friends were at his side when life support was terminated," says a hospital statement.
"Family members express their appreciation and gratitude for the support and prayers that have been expressed for Gary and for them."
A hospital spokesperson said Coleman had initially been "conscious and lucid" when taken in "but by early afternoon that same day, Mr Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened".
The distinctive actor, who found fame as Arnold Jackson, the Harlem boy adopted into a wealthy white household on TV show Diff’rent Strokes from 1978-86, lived in Santaquin, about 55 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was known for his catchphrase "What’choo talkin’ ’bout, Willis?"
He had suffered a long string of health problems, including kidney disease, heart surgery and twice trying to overdose on sleeping pills.

Sandra Bullock’s estranged hubby Jesse James will tell all in a TV interview with ABC.
James, the CEO of West Coast Choppers, was recently ditched by his Oscar-winning wife after reports surfaced that he cheated on her with tattooed model Michelle McGee.
Bullock, 45, has since given an interview to PEOPLE magazine where she revealed she had adopted a baby boy.
James will now get to put across his side of the story when he speaks with Vicki Mabrey from ABC in an interview to air in the US on May 25.
It is not known what are the specific details of the interview, but ABC.com said his split from The Blind Side star will be touched upon, as will his stint in rehab.

Avatar director James Cameron has said he will announce a release date for the movie sequel in the next few months.
The filmmaker recently gave a speech at the Seoul Digital Forum in South Korea where he spoke about the future of 3D films and television.
Cameron added that it will take around three years to make a sequel to his hit 2009 flick Avatar, 18 months fewer than the first.
According to Hit Fix, he said that he will announce a release date for the second movie, about the world of Pandora, in the next few months.
Avatar stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana both have said they are waiting for the call about starring in the next flick.

Tough-guy actor Jean-Claude Van Damme is to appear in a new reality show with his family, according to UK reports.
The 45-year-old martial-arts star has reportedly signed up to star in a fly-on-the-wall reality show for ITV.
The show will see his home life, as well as his preparation for his comeback fight in October.
A source said to UK newspaper The Sun: “JC is an absolute legend and he’s great value. He’s had quite a life and he’s become a real character. You never quite know what he’s going to do or say next.
“The plan is for cameras to follow him at home and in the run-up to his comeback fight.
“So as well as his home life, we’ll get to see his gruelling training regime, which, with him being nearly 50, should be interesting.”

Nancy Kerrigan’s brother has been charged with manslaughter over the death of his 70-year-old father Daniel.
Mark, 45, was earlier charged with assault and battery over an incident at the family’s home. But a Middlesex County, Massachusetts, grand jury indicted him on charges of manslaughter and assault and battery involving an elderly person, CNN reports.
The family of the famous figure skater, who recently reported on the Vancouver Winter Olympics for Entertainment Tonight, vowed to support their son.
“The Kerrigan family continues to believe that he [Mark] is not responsible for the death of their beloved Daniel Kerrigan. Mark Kerrigan has been living at home supporting and caring for his mother and is in complete compliance with all conditions of his pre-trial release, and we see no reason that the situation should change,” the family said in a statement.

US lawyers for Roman Polanski have lodged a last-ditch attempt to kill the case against him.
In papers filed on Tuesday, Polanski’s lawyers cited the financial impact on the California state judicial system.
AP reports the lawyers also claimed Polanski, who is under house arrest in Switzerland pending a Swiss decision on his extradition, should not have to foot the bill for any further court proceedings.
The director of The Ghost Writer is wanted in Los Angeles on sex crime allegations that go back 33 years. The AP’s veteran court reporter Linda Deutsch noted the content of the appeal indicated he was running out of funds.
The lawyers noted Polanski could not earn money under house arrest.
Los Angeles prosecutors recently demanded his return to answer the charges — a request that was upheld by a Swiss judge.

One and a half men has become a hot topic in Hollywood following the sudden loss of Charlie Sheen to a rehab program.
The Two and a Half Men actor, who is likely to be TV highest paid star at a reported $900,000 per episode, yesterday checked into a rehab program in the wake of a domestic violence incident with his wife Brooke Mueller, who has also been in rehab.
Observers are wondering about the impact of Sheen’s hiatus on the show, whose ratings reportedly went from 40 million to 80 million with the Sheen scandal.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, contracts on the show and the show’s own insurance policy are major issues for Warner Bros., its producer. The trade daily said WBTV and CBS would not comment on Sheen’s contract.
But it notes Sheen’s past drug and alcohol issues were well known before the show.
Mary Craig Calkins, an insurance recovery specialist, commented on the prior knowledge of Sheen’s alcohol use. She said: “The insurance company reps read the papers just like everyone else. I would expect some aspect of this risk would have been written into coverage and the production agreement as well.”
