Lily Allen’s drinking has spiralled out of control, according to friends.

The British pop star was seen on several occasions during the Cannes Film Festival, in France, worse for wear due to the effects of alcohol.

It has now been revealed Lily, 23, was nearly hospitalized following the after-party for Kirsten Dunst’s new movie ‘How To Lose Friends And Alienate People’. A source from the Hotel Du Cap, where the singer stayed, said: “Her father Keith had to get the hotel porters to help him carry her back to her room.

They even asked if she needed an ambulance because she was in such a state.” Some of Lily’s friends have now urged her to seek help and fear she is using alcoholism to escape her heartbreak over her miscarriage in January and subsequent split from the baby’s father, Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons.

Ed is also said to be deeply worried about his former lover. A friend of the musician told Britain’s Look magazine: “Hearing what Lily got up to in Cannes made Ed worried for her. He adores Lily and feels she has a lot of demons to sort out. She is not ready to settle down with anybody, let alone him.”

A spokesperson for Lily denied the claims, insisting: “She is back in London and feeling great. She is about to go back into the studio and work on her new album.”

Former Velvet Revolver front man Scott Weiland has recently been sentenced to jail following his DUI arrest in November 2007. The singer was charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol with prior conviction. He must now serve 192 hours, which translates to 8 days, in county jail. Scott has just until Wednesday, May 28th, to serve his sentence. He must also complete an 18-month alcohol program and will also be put on a 4 year summary probation. The singer also has to pay about $2,000 in fines. These are the few times that rock stars would want to be more like Paris Hilton in order to get out of jail early.

Steve-O, star of Jackass, was hospitalized earlier this month for a 72 hour psychiatric hold. That hold was later extended. He is opening up now about the alcoholism that has a grip on his life.

In his MySpace blog, he talks about the alcoholism of his mother and how that has affected him. He said, “I know I was always powerless over alcoholism, because it had such a grip on Mom’s adulthood and my childhood, and I never chose to fight it.”

He even describes being given alcohol as a baby. He says, “before Mom and Dad would find themselves in the embarassing position of being caught by other passengers with a crying baby, I was fed alcohol.”

He says he has forgiven his mother and hopes he can forgive himself. He talks of his drug use and says it caused “a great deal of damage to my brain and now that they’ve all worn off, I’m facing the consequences.”

Apparently driving while intoxicated runs in the family. Paris, you should be proud. You trained little bro Barron Hilton well.

The youngest Hilton, age 18, decided to be like big sis Tuesday morning. He was arrested around 8:04 a.m. for driving under the influence and for possession of a fake driver’s license. Before his $20,000 bail was finally posted, he spent an entire day in jail.

Not only was he under the influence for having drank alcohol as a minor, but he was well over the .08 legal limit.

His father’s response? “I haven’t been contacted yet by either my son or the police. If what I have heard is true, it is very disturbing and I will have a lot to say - but it will be to my son, not the media.”

If you can keep all the Britney stories straight, you’ll remember that sources on the scene of her standoff said she appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. We all did a collective head nod because we figured as much.

Well, sources now say that once she was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, she tested free of any drugs or alcohol. The unnamed informant said, “This lady is clean as clean can be, and has been for some time.”

So, I guess since there wasn’t any substance in her, it was just plain crazy that made her do what she did. Other sources who are close to the Spears family believe that Britney actually suffers from an undiagnosed case of bipolar disorder.

Maybe Dr. Phil will diagnose and fix her.

Yikes! An accident is bad enough; a death is horrific.

Back in October, 89-year-old Warren Gates allegedly didn’t yield to oncoming traffic and ran into a car driven by former TV host Gary Collins. While it was stated that the wreck was the fault of Gates, Collins was charged with a DUI.

Gates has been hospitalized since the accident and sources say he passed away on Friday. According to police officer Ana Aguirre, “It’s up to the coroners to determine whether Mr. Gates died as a result of trauma from the accident. There’s going to be a follow-up investigation after the autopsy is completed.”

Collins pled no contest to the DUI and will serve four days in jail.

Sad…so sad. Really, they should institute a maximum driving age or at least administer driving tests again.

After their London show on Saturday, the Take That boys decided to treat themselves to a well earned lads night out and hit a club.

And why not they are still hot-blooded males after all. The usual can be said for the evening. Their was dancing (Jason) and drinking of many beers (Howard) and all were pretty well behaved and seem to have had a very enjoyable evening. Fair play to them.

Ben Affleck is at the center of a new booze controversy after the movie star was spotted toasting his directorial debut with Guinness and white wine. Affleck, who entered Promises rehab center in California to seek treatment for an alcohol problem in 2001, was spotted guzzling Guinness at the Mystic Celt restaurant and bar in Chicago, Illinois after the city’s premiere of Gone Baby Gone last week. What’s up with all these stars drinking and drugging don’t they have anything else better to do…? Actress Lindsay Lohan has been forced to return to Hollywood post-rehab to boost her poor finances - after blowing $7 million in the last year on hard-partying. I don’t think I really need to say how ridiculous that is. Like the old saying goes you can take the girl out of the trailer park…. she has really BAD spending habits. I would have spent 7 million on a flight to Germany, top out cars on the Autobahn, pay Reese Witherspoon and Lacey Chabert to go for a motorcycle ride, go on a Caribbean cruise with Leah Remini, attend some WWE live events, go to the movies with WWE Divas Lilian Garcia, Stephanie McMahon Levesque and Torrie Wilson and go to a live P.O.D., Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, and Hammerfall concert. On the other hand it’s her money and she has earned it so it also gives her the freedom to spend it the way she wants, now it’s time to work hard to get the money for future expenses.

Early Tuesday morning actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested in Santa Monica, California for driving under the influence of alcohol. It’s no secret that Lindsay just got out of rehab a couple of weeks ago after a six week stay. She also just turned 21, the legal drinking age. It’s reported that police pulled Lohan over just after two in the morning. She is already scheduled in court August 24th for her first DUI charge. The strange thing here is that since leaving Promises rehab facility she has been wearing an ankle bracelet that monitors her alcohol intake. A press conference is expected to take place to confirm the reports. This is most likely another hoax story just like the one that said her newest movie was cancelled. That ended up being false and this may be as well. If she really was wearing that bracelet then it just doesn’t make sense that she would have been able to make it that far without some kind of intervention.

As far as platonic liars go, Paula Abdul is one of the weirdest. Ever since People magazine said that she was drunk she had been under constant scrutiny. Not only that but she is extremely insistent that she has never even been drunk in her life. How many people who have spent a large amount of their life in Hollywood have never been drunk? What a total lie. I can’t possibly believe that. When she sat down with Matt Lauer the other day he asked her twice if she had ever been drunk. The second time she admitted to sipping cocktails on occasion. Her new reality show “Hey Paula” is getting mixed reviews. Some viewers find her to be very moody. She was also asked about her love life and tried to be evasive. She is currently dating restaurant hot spot owner J.T. Torregiani. I’m surprised that anybody cared enough about what Paula Abdul is doing that they gave her a TV show. Hopefully it won’t last as long as American Idol has. Isn’t that punishment enough?

Things change in the matter of hours or even minutes and when Paris Hilton was sent back to her home to be kept under house arrest, Paris must have thanked God that she is out of jail. Hours after Paris Hilton was sent home from jail for a medical condition, the judge who put her in jail on a probation violation ordered her back to court to determine whether she should leave house arrest and go back behind bars. Hilton, who reported to jail on Sunday night after attending the MTV Movie Awards, was fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and sent home about 2 am today, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said.She was ordered to finish her 45-day sentence under house arrest, meaning she could not leave her four-bedroom, three-bath home in the Hollywood Hills until next month. Hilton’s return home “gives the impression of … celebrity justice being handed out,” If she were gulity, which she were absolutely and then should be no reason to release her just 3-4 days after dropping into the jail. Her medical condition should have been tested before hand. If her medical condition is fit for jail then Paris will have to complete her sentence in prison. Paula Abdul was sure criticized for what was considered a bizarre behavior during “American Idol”. Many said that this is because of alcohol and substance abuse. The judge said once again that this is not true. This time Paula chose stronger words:

“I’m sick of it. I’ve never been drunk. I don’t do recreational drugs. It’s defamation of character. If I appear exhausted on television, it’s because I am! I have a lot of sleepless nights because I’m in so much pain. I try to say something and I stumble, and that’s what people have picked up on. I’m not polished.”

In case you did not know, Paula Abdul suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD). This is a very rare neurological disorder that usually causes a lot of chronic pain. It all started with a cheerleading accident when she was 17, continued with an accident caused by a drunk driver in 1987 and culminated with the plane crash in 1992. “American Idol” caused her to have many white nights and this can only amplify RSD symptoms.

Lindsay Lohan is back in rehab. The move followed the recent car crash that involved the actress and her arrest under suspicion of DUI (driving under the influence). Police found what is believed to be cocaine in the car but this has not been confirmed so far. We have to assume it was some kind of drug as getting into rehab for the second time in less than a year can only suggest this.

Nothing is really known about this incident and fans do wonder. Police said that she also faces charges because of leaving the scene of the accident but this can not really happen. After all she was taken to the hospital. A preliminary court date is scheduled for August 24.
These are sure hard times for Lindsay Lohan. Press keeps harassing her, it seems that she also has some family problems and to top it all of now she will face a trial. Let’s see what happens next.

According to the LA Sheriff’s Department, Paris Hilton would need to serve a minimum of 23 days in the slammer for violating her probation. She would actually do the full time of 45 days and would only serve the minimum time due to a state policy regarding good inmate behavior.

After all the things that she’s done in the free world, do you really think that she has anything worse to do in there? Considering there’s no booze or hot spots in the slammer, I highly doubt it.

Oh yeah, she went on to say that she thinks no one is above the law and she’s willing to do the time and that she only hopes she would not be treated differently (or treated worse) because of who she is. Oh please! Of course they’d treat her differently. Otherwise, she’d probably find some reason to sue them for mistreatment because her pillows weren’t fluffy enough.
