Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe quickly became a decoy for shock jock Howard Stern.

The unpopular Stern tore into the newcomer star of Precious, calling her “enormous”, on his Monday Sirius radio show. He also attacked her ardent supporter Oprah Winfrey.

Stern continued: “Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie. She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”

He later defended the tirade, saying it was meant to address the hot topic of obesity in America, ninemsn reports.

Contrary to Stern’s claim, Sidibe was quickly signed for The Big C with Laura Linney and in Yelling To The Sky.

Tatum O’Neal expressed deep regret over the failure of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to include Farrah Fawcett in its Oscars memorial segment.

O’Neal yesterday was reported joining her father, Ryan, in a protest to the Academy over the omission. Ryan was Farrah’s life partner and the father of her son, Redmond.

In a excerpt from their letter to the Academy obtained by People Magazine, she said: “On behalf of myself, my father Ryan O’Neal and my entire family, we are deeply saddened that a truly beautiful and talented actress Farrah Fawcett was not included in the memorial montage during the 82nd Academy Awards. We are bereft with this exclusion of such an international icon who inspired so many for so many reasons. Beautiful, talented Farrah will never be forgotten by her family and amazing fans.”

Fawcett died last year on June 25 from cancer. For many her death was eclipsed by that of Michael Jackson on the same day.

Sean Penn was reportedly kicked out of the Governor’s Ball Oscars after-party for punching a producer who is dating his estranged wife.

Penn, according to news.com.au, was given the boot after punching Greg Shapiro, who was a producer on the award-winning The Hurt Locker and dating Robyn Wright Penn.

TMZ, however, slammed the report, saying its probing revealed Penn was neither aggressive nor left off the list of the Governor’s Ball. TMZ reports Penn stepped into an elevator with Shapiro by chance after presenting an award.

Earlier, Penn got strong in his language regarding critics of his Haiti mission, who he condemned to rectal cancer in an interview with Lara Logan.

Ben Stiller as Avatar alien cracks up James Cameron

Posted under Academy Awards, Oscar Winner by Heather on Monday 8 March 2010 at 1:23 pm

Movie joker Ben Stiller had Avatar director James Cameron and the celebrity-packed Oscars audience in stitches as he presented the best make-up award dressed as Na’vi alien.

The Tropic Thunder star came on stage with his face painted blue and a tail and began speaking in the Na’vi language created by Cameron for his box office smash.

He told the audience: “That means this seemed like a better idea in rehearsal. It was between this and the Nazi uniform but the show seemed a little Hitler-heavy. I’m here to present the award for best make-up. The ironic thing is Avatar isn’t even nominated. I should have worn my Spock ears because Star Trek is actually nominated.”

Stiller revealed his tail was controlled by fishing line and a rod and joked: “It’s amazing how far technology has come.”

Robert Ebert, a movie critic, later posted a message on his Twitter: “No Farrah in the memorial. They have a whole lot of ’splaining to do.”

The actor allegedly got very drunk and Elton John’s Oscar party that he started swearing at people, including Guns’n’Roses guitarist Slash. A source had this to say about Keifer Sutherland’s behaviour: He was initially soft-spoken, mellow and pleasant. He was ordering Maker’s Mark whiskey cocktails and was even posing for some pictures.” It’s funny though because Keifer Sutherland supposedly has some Scottish ancestry from both his parents so you’d think he would be able to take on a bit of whiskey. Still, he’d better be careful, lead guitarists can have very fiery tempers when if comes to being thrown insults at random and Slash must have his nick-name for a good reason.

The “actress” has managed to score no less than three awards at the Razzies for her outstanding acting career this year. Paris Hilton may not have made the Academy Awards, but it’s good that somebody thought about recognizing her true potential. John Wilson, the organizer of the lovely event had this to say about Paris Hilton’s amazing achievement: “She is famous for who she hangs out with. She’s not famous for any talent she has yet exhibited.” It seems that they’re on to her, she’d better lay low for a bit from now on until another chance pops up to nail a few more of these awards.

You have the funny men and then you have the Funny Men, well usually at the Oscars’ everything is pretty much a planned thing and the light hearted jokes are to liven up the atmosphere were nominated actors are just so nervous that they would not move out of their seats even if there is a nature’s call.

But when you have a funny man like Ben Stiller around you can expect something out of the ordinary and that’s what Ben Stiller had in store for all of us. Ben Stiller appeared along with Natalie Portman who was wearing a pink strapless gown with beaded accents and a prom-style updo.

While Ben was roaming around the stage wearing a pair of sun-shades plus a beard, mumbling monosyllabic words and he even had gum in his mouth which on the request of Natalie he took it out of his mouth a his gum to the podium much like Phoenix did during his interview with David Letterman.

That had the whole crowd laughing ridiculously and poor Joaquin must have had to hide his face somewhere under the seat.
