Brangelina sues News Of The World over split report
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have launched a lawsuit against a UK tabloid over reports they were splitting up and dividing their sizeable fortune and assets, according to their London lawyers.
The News Of The World report on January 24 was widely circulated in international media.
Schillings law firm has taken its case on behalf of the superstars to the High Court in London.
Keith Schilling of the firm said the News Of The World failed to meet the couple’s “reasonable demands” for a retraction of the story and apology “for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets”.
He said in a statement: “We have advised them to bring proceedings which they have now done.”
Meanwhile a top Los Angeles divorce attorney, Sorrell Trope, said she had never been contacted by either member of the couple.
Pitt, 46, and Jolie, 34, have six children but remain unmarried. The UK paper put their assets at £205million ($320million).
