Star Treks Sulu to appear in same-sex game show
Star Trek actor George Takei and partner Brad Altman will be the first same-sex celebrity couple to appear on US show Newlywed Game.
The Game Show Network is making history by having same-sex couples and it is also producing new Celebrity Newlywed Game episodes, which will feature Takei – who played Sulu in the original Star Trek series – and partner Altman, who married a year ago.
The network reportedly approached chat show host Ellen DeGeneres and girlfriend Portia de Rossi first to appear on the show, but they turned it down as they had already done their own version on DeGeneres’ show last year.
Other celebrity couples said to be taking part include America’s Next Top Model winner Adrienne Curry and Brady Bunch star Christopher Knight, and Bachelor star Bob Guiney and All My Children actress Rebecca Budig.
The Takei episode will air in November, hosted by Carnie Wilson, according to reports.
