Mexico’s swine flu has become infamous for scaring even the toughest away including Hugh Jackman and the latest casualty—Star Trek. Representatives from Paramount Studio confirmed the postponement of Star Trek’s scheduled film release in Mexico no thanks to the swine flu. Apparently, while Star Trek has vowed to conquer the universe and beyond it has decided not to go where the swine fly has gone.

Studio sources said they have not yet determined a specific date for the Mexican opening of Star Trek which will open worldwide on May 8. The opening of “Angels and Demon” which stars Tom Hanks will push through worldwide on May 15 but not in Mexico no thanks again to the swine flu.

Former Prison Break star Lane Garrison has been released from prison after serving 20 months of his 40-month sentence.

Lane, 28, was met by family and friends when he was recently released from the California Correctional Institute.

He was jailed on November 20, 2007 for a vehicular manslaughter conviction after a crash that left one teenager dead and another injured, according to RadarOnline.

He reportedly took part in a drug-abuse program while in prison and also acted as a peer mentor, which is why he received the early release.

Lane pleaded guilty to the charges following the DUI crash in 2007.

At the time, police found cocaine in his system and his blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit.

He recently agreed to pay the victims’ families a financial settlement.

The comedian will play the lead of imaginary friend Fred in the movie – a role first played by Rik Mayall in 1991.

The original movie starred actress Phoebe Cates as a woman who loses her job and husband during the course of a lunch hour.

When she moves back home, she is reunited with her imaginary friend Fred who tries to help her situation but causes chaos.

The remake has come as a surprise to industry insiders as the first Drop Dead Fred was blasted by critics and failed at the box office.

Universal Pictures will reportedly ensure it is second time lucky for the film by stepping away from the original script and making the new movie in the darker tone of Beetlejuice.

The film will be Brand’s third film for Universal.

The funnyman made his big screen debut last year with Forgetting Sarah Marshall and is set to star in the upcoming Get Him to the Greek which starts shooting in May.

Mickey Rourke has told how he broke his hand fighting with professional wrestler Chris Jericho.

The actor went into the ring with the sports star earlier this month at an event in Houston, Texas after a public spat.

Rourke – who won critical acclaim for playing a washed-up grappler in hit film, The Wrestler – surprised fans when he got out of the crowd and took on Jericho, delivering a punch that left him reeling.

Now the 56-year-old screen star said that while he was hamming it up for the cameras, he was nevertheless left with an injury.

He told a US newspaper: “I’m all healed up now. I kept my hand open when I punched so I wouldn’t hurt him.”

And Rourke insists he and Jericho, 38, have resolved their dispute.

He told the New York Daily News: “Chris and I went out for drinks after. We’re all good now.”

The pair scrapped at Wrestlemania XXV on April 5.

The father of Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter was rushed into a surgical procedure to drain fluid from his brain, according to reports.

Casey Aldridge, who is currently at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, is said to have been badly hurt when he crashed his F-150 truck at around 1.30am on Sunday, claim RadarOnline.com.

Casey was reportedly with three passengers – but it is believed his injuries are the most serious.

Jamie Lynn, the younger sister of Britney Spears, rushed to the hospital to be by his bedside.

Aldridge was charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle following a car accident on Saturday night.

Police have told TMZ that Aldridge, 19, was driving on the LA 606 freeway in Louisiana when he lost control of his F-150 truck.

Spears gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Maddie Briann Aldridge with fiancé Casey back in June 2008 aged just 17.

Fiery chef Gordon Ramsay has reportedly been dropped off The Sunday Times Rich List after losing around £10million since last year.

Gordon, 42, was said to be worth £50 million on last year’s lists whereas now his fortune is estimated to be around £40 million, according to The Times Online.

The chef has had a rocky year after he had to face allegations he had been cheating on his wife Tana for the past seven years.

Also, his main restaurant dropped off the list of the world’s 100 best restaurants and there were also accusations that some of his restaurants have been serving ready-meals.

Original Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy said he got “emotional” filming scenes for the new $150million remake of the film.

Nimoy, 78, is reprising his role as Spock in the latest flick in a time-travel plot alongside the new Spock, played by Heroes star Zachary Quinto.

Nimoy also said he got ‘choked-up’ thinking about his old co-stars such as James Doohan and DeForrest Kelly, who have now passed away.

He said: “Yes, I did get emotional and I was crying at times but I’m at a much more peaceful place in my life too right now, and that feels good.”

But the new film’s director, JJ Abrams, had to persuade him to return to the film with the new generation of actors.

He said, according to RadarOnline: “I did have some reservations about doing the film, but when I read the script and met the director, I agreed with the direction they had decided to take.”

Nimoy added: “JJ Abrams is a unique in that he can do both the large-scale moments and the personal moments also, and that’s very rare in cinema.”

He added: “I believe that this new Star Trek mirrors what is going on in society today and has a very positive message in that if people work together, they can solve problems much better.”

The blockbuster Twilight film and book series is set to get its own fan convention.

The four book series – created by author Stephanie Meyer – will take over Texas for a four-day fan convention at Sheraton Dallas Hotel this summer.

The event will run from July 30 until August 2 and will feature music inspired by the books as well as vampire ball.

The hosts are expecting fans from around the world to snap up tickets when they go on sale on May 1.

The Twilight series has proved immensely popular, with the first film, starring Robert Pattinson, drawing huge crowds.

Action man Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson believes in aliens, he has revealed.

The wrestler turned actor is in Race To Witch Mountain – a remake of a 1970s sci-fi classic.

He said: “I was a believer before the movie, I’m certainly a believer now.

“I think we’d be arrogant to think that we’re the only life form out there so I believe.”

Dwayne Johnson said he knew his daughter Simone would be a big fan of the film, which is why he decided to take on the role: “She loves the movie and you know I’m a proud daddy and great friends with her mum.

“All the movies that I make she can’t see, so for me to make a movie that she thinks, ‘oh wow this is really cool… daddy’s in it, daddy’s cool’.

“I got to say being a parent, a daddy, a proud daddy, that bond between being a little girl and her daddy is so unique and special, and it’s something that’s incredible.

“You know the fact that she’ll measure every guy that she meets against me, it’s really cool.”

Dwayne Johnson received the highest salary for an actor in his first starring role for The Scorpion King in 2001.

He said on The Paul O’Grady Show in the UK: “When I was eight years old, I used to think I was all those guys… Harrison Ford, Chuck Norris, Richard Price, Gene Wilder and Elvis Presley.”
